Viva Magenta Is Bright, Bold And Full Of Joy!
Pantone’s new Color of the Year is a breath of fresh air for all of us who love bright and daring color, with lots of versatility. A bold pinkish red, that feels fresh and new, Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta is unconventional and exciting, mixing red and pink palettes which are warm, flattering and chic.
“In this age of technology,” said Pantone’s team at the Color Institute with the announcement, “we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real. Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known.”
Pantone’s trend-forecasting department the Pantone Color Institute selects the key color from their palette each year, announcing the new tone every December. For 2023, the statement red hue, which replaces the purple tone VERY PERI, has been selected to reflect the “rebellious” spirit of the time and the return to renewal of creative expression and experimentation following the limitations and difficulties of the Pandemic years.
In eyewear – the pink and red tones are always a nice go-to for a change from more classic colors – and suit many complexions and different face shapes. The bright and warm red palette is also a win-win in combination with other hues or explored with elegant gradient effects such as natural crystal or white.
