Spring Eyewear Trends

Bright, fun, heart-warming colors, tortoise with a twist, and a choice of stunning glossy or translucent acetates…

There’s a lot to look forward to this spring.

Trend predicting has become a tricky business with the lack of live events like international fashion weeks and the exciting flourishes of street style that everybody loves.

But even on the virtual catwalks, one message was clear in London, Paris and New York - bright, bold color, and I mean BOLD, is absolutely at the front of every designer’s mind for the minute.

If the summer season’s dresses are anything to go by for a start, sunshine yellow and hot pink are sure to be overshadowing more delicate hues.

In eyewear, bright bursts of color, two-toned frames and designs which will draw attention to your face not to mention some super soft pastels are going to hold there own in the months to come.

Of course, for those thinking a return to work is imminent, an interest in more formal dressing has actually become a thing, and it’s here, particularly in the men’s collections that chic, stylish more gentlemanly eyewear designs and colors will re-emerge with a whole new ‘spin’.

So, as you start the preparations for spring and upgrade your accessory style, we’ve picked out some predictions in four key looks to navigate the new!

Four Looks For Spring

1. Glossy Or Transparent

Choose your finish carefully, the details are incredible!

If you’ve wearing a clear frame, then go for a new glossy finish - of course this works both ways. These two looks have landed right on trend for spring and both can be styled in different ways (so put them both in your wardrobe).

On women, a transparent crystal frame tends to look gorgeous and subtle whatever you pair it with, while a more intense glossy acetate finish has a distinctive air about it. You can add a bit of pattern too! On trend in the palette of neutral and fresh pink tones – glossy or transparent – these frames look just as wonderful and feminine with classic tailoring, a versatile white shirt or popular prints such as florals or stripes.

2. Cute + Playful

Something to swing your mood is perfect right now.

Anything that’s sombre or dull is out, everything that’s colourful, joyful and spirited is in! We like the cute cat’s eyes, small round shapes and quirky shapes like the narrow half-moons for this upbeat feel that’s fashionable and cool. The tones should be just as fun! From a zingy lime green, that brings out your hair color, to a deep sky or steely blue, these glasses have a lovely mix of retro and modern and the slim-line shape is always a pleasurable one to wear.

3. Tortoise With a Twist

Just add color and jazz it up.

Moving away from the more ordinary brown tortoise tones and into a world of colorful trendy tortoiseshell patterns is a way to go right now – especially if you’ve been wearing darker tones through the winter months. With tortoise tones turning much more colorful in red, or green or blue, this is a great to time to adopt this modern trend in shapes that are bold and oversized or classic, more minimal and refined.

4. Slick + Smart

Get ready! Office dressing is back on the horizon. The gray tones are a great pick for a back-to-work style for men this year. One of PANTONE’s colors of the year, gray is connected with solidity and dependability and compared to a regular black frame, this tone tends to look less ‘geek’ and more ‘chic’ if selected well for face shape and skin. Warm gray tones are trendy not just in fashion but also in interiors and design, where materials such as granite and slate with gentle textures are loved and revered for their solidity and striking finish. Gray just could be the new black!
